Voters did not pass the Athena-Weston School District general obligation bond on the November ballot. The vote was 463 YES (43.7%) votes and 597 (56.3%) NO votes.

Election Day is November 4th. Mailed ballots must be postmarked by 11-04-25. Ballots dropped in an official Ballot Drop Box must be received by 8 PM on election day.

Oregon's Secretary of State encourages voters who live more than 50 miles from a U.S. Postal Service processing center in Portland to return their ballots to drop boxes rather than relying on the mail system this close to the election. You can drop your ballot in an official Ballot Drop Box, available 24 hours a day/7 days a week. Athena's is located at Athena City Hall at 302 E. Currant St. to the left of the main entrance.
If the proposed bond is passed, district re-configuration would be:
PreK-Grade 5 in Weston
Grades 6-8 & 9-12 in Athena

The district’s current bond, passed in 2016, ends in 2025. The would be no overlap in tax payments with the proposed 2025 bond.

If the district's proposed bond measure passes, the matching OSCIM (Oregon School Capital Improvement Matching program) grant would cover 40% of the proposed bond projects with no repayment required.
