Meet Jayden Sparks, a Junior at Weston-McEwen High School
He takes classes in CNC machining & Robotics
CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machining is a manufacturing process that uses pre-
programmed software to control machines. CNC machines can be used to create precise parts from metal or plastic.
What do you enjoy about your CTE classes at WMHS? Turning peoples’ ideas into existence.
How are CTE classes making a difference in your education? It is giving me something to do and look forward to and give me experience for future jobs.
Would you like to share anything else about CTE at WMHS?

She takes classes in the Agriculture/FFA Pathway.
What do you enjoy about your CTE classes at WMHS? There is always something new to learn, and it gives you opportunities to gain skills that will prepare you for the future.
How are CTE classes making a difference in your education? I get the privilege of many fun
experiences and being involved with other students interested in agriculture that I probably
wouldn’t have a connection with had I not been in Ag and FFA.
Would you like to share anything else about CTE at WMHS? Through FFA I have been given opportunities to see different parts of the country, have many fun experiences. And I have met people from all over Oregon that share the same interest in agriculture.

What is something people may not know about CTE in schools?
“High school graduation rates in Oregon for students who take CTE courses was
89%, nearly 8 percentage points higher than Oregon’s 81.3% graduation rate for
all students. The graduation rate for students concentrating in CTE was 93%."

MedQuest Applications Now Open!
The applications for 2025 MedQuest are now available on the NEOAHEC website. Applications will close for Rural MedQuest on April 1 and for Frontier MedQuest on April 15.
The MedQuest application will be one of the first events to use the new NEOAHEC Portal! We have created a handy guide for students to navigate the new application process. It is available on our website or it can be downloaded here.
