Voters within the Athena-Weston School District approved a $4,980,000 General Obligation (GO) Bond. This GO Bond, combined with a $4,980,000 matching grant from the Oregon Department of Education (ODE), will provide a total project budget of $9,960,000 to fund capital improvements.
The scope of work and related budget associated with this exemption include the following projects:
• A new 12,000-square-foot Career, Trades, Sciences, and Technical Education Center with art classrooms, metal and wood shops, general science labs with storage, a multipurpose classroom with space for agricultural science, and additional parking. The building will include energy-efficient HVAC, windows, and insulation and will meet modern ADA accessibility standards.
• Minor renovations to repurpose vacated classrooms at Weston-McEwen High School (WMHS) will occur after the new CTE building is complete. During the validation, design, and estimating process, an allocation for the minor renovations at Weston-McEwen High School shall be established.
The selected Design-Build Team will assist the District in prioritizing options at WMHS to identify base scope as well as desired scope that fits within the established budget.
