Winter weather has arrived and temperatures are expected to stay well below freezing.  We are sharing some guidelines and tips for keeping kids safe and warm.

Weather Guidelines for Children – Wind-chill Factor Chart (PDF)

Tips for dressing in cold-weather

Dress your child in layers of clothing that can be taken off and put on  easily. Mittens, instead of gloves, will allow fingers to retain warmth.  A warm hat will help maintain body temperature.  Prevent frostbite by keeping ears covered at all times.  Waterproof boots should be roomy enough for a child to wiggle their toes while wearing an extra pair of socks. Wet clothing and boots should be removed immediately after playing outdoors.
